Cognitive Hypnotherapy for Anxiety in Florida | Monica Obando, CCHt

Clinical hypnotherapy that works at both the thought level and the subconscious level

If you have already tried cognitive-behavioral strategies, journaling, meditation, or years of talk therapy and your anxiety still shows up in the same situations, that is useful information. It means the pattern driving the anxiety is not sitting at the level where thinking can reach it. Cognitive hypnotherapy is the integration of conscious insight and subconscious work, designed to reach what talk therapy alone often cannot.

The Approach

What Cognitive Hypnotherapy Actually Does

Traditional hypnotherapy works at the subconscious level through suggestion and imagery. Cognitive approaches work at the conscious level through identifying and reframing thought patterns. Each has value. Each also has limits.

Cognitive hypnotherapy integrates both.

In clinical practice, this means:

  • Identifying the specific thought patterns and beliefs driving your anxiety response
  • Accessing the subconscious level where those patterns are actually stored
  • Reframing them from the inside rather than trying to override them from the outside
  • Working with the nervous system state that holds the pattern in place

The result is change that does not require you to constantly manage your thinking. The pattern itself shifts.

The Clinical Reality

Why This Approach Works for Anxiety That Has Not Resolved

Most anxiety is not a thinking problem. It is a nervous system pattern wearing the clothing of thoughts.

That is why insight alone, however accurate, often does not resolve it. You can know exactly why you feel the way you feel, name the family dynamic that created it, read every book on the subject, and still find yourself reacting the same way in the same situations.

Cognitive hypnotherapy addresses this directly.

The cognitive layer helps you name the pattern precisely. What activates it. What belief sits underneath. What outcome it is trying to protect you from.

The hypnotic layer accesses the subconscious state where that pattern was installed. Usually earlier in life than you can remember clearly. Often before you had language for what was happening.

The integration allows the pattern to update at the level it was formed, which is the only level where it was ever going to resolve.

The Fit

Who This Work Is For

This approach is designed for high-functioning adults who:

  • Have done enough internal work to understand their patterns intellectually
  • Still find those patterns running their reactions in high-stakes moments
  • Need their nervous system to catch up with what their mind already knows
  • Cannot afford to be managed by anxiety in the roles they occupy

Many of my clients are Directors, VPs, or senior Consultants. Their external success has outpaced their internal capacity, and the strategies that got them here are no longer enough for where they are now.

If that describes you, there is a specific program designed for exactly this.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How is cognitive hypnotherapy different from CBT?
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) works at the conscious level, where you identify and consciously restructure thought patterns through practice and repetition. CBT is practiced by licensed psychologists and therapists. Cognitive hypnotherapy addresses related patterns but accesses them at the subconscious level where they are stored. Clinical hypnotherapy is a distinct modality with its own training and scope.
Do I need to be in Florida to work with you?
My practice is based in Lutz and Tampa, Florida, and I serve clients across Florida and worldwide via secure online sessions. The Peak State Protocol is delivered entirely online.
How long does cognitive hypnotherapy take?
Most patterns show meaningful shift within four to six focused sessions. The Peak State Protocol is structured around this reality, with four clinical sessions delivered over six weeks.
What happens in a session?
Each session involves clinical hypnosis combined with cognitive work targeting a specific pattern. You remain aware throughout. You cannot be made to do anything against your will. The experience is more like deep focus than losing consciousness.
Is this covered by insurance?
Clinical hypnotherapy sessions are not typically covered by insurance. For clients investing in The Peak State Protocol, a superbill can be provided for potential reimbursement, though coverage is not guaranteed.

Ready to Work at the Level Where the Pattern Lives?

If the anxiety you are moving through has not resolved through talk therapy, insight work, or trying harder, that is because it was not going to.

The pattern is not sitting at that level.

The Peak State Protocol works at the level where it is.
