5 Simple Ways to Relax in under 5 minutes

We’ve all been there… your email box is overflowing, you have 3 kids that have to be in four different places tonight, your new boss is breathing down your back, you can’t forget to stop at the store on the way home and you have a conference call in 6 minutes.  Though your ideal way to relax in the sun or get a massage may not be ideal right at his moment there are some things you can do in 5 minutes wherever you are to help life seem more manageable.  I have selected 5 of my favorites to share with you that can create calm during times like these...until you can get to that much needed relaxing day on the beach or massage, hey a girl needs a little me time!

 

 

 

Honey Anyone?:  (my personal favorite) You can replace the stress with the sweetness of the honey with one spoonful of your favorite Santa Monica Honey, of course. Honey has elements that help to reduce inflammation in the brain and aids in fighting depression and anxiety.

 

 

 

A Quick Dose of Sunshine: Take a quick break outside and get some rays.  The bright light can be an effective treatment for people with depression and even cheer you up a bit.  

 

 

 

Creative Visualization: Close your eyes for a moment and visualize your favorite celebrity at your door or imagine you just landed in Hawaii and you are on the vacation of your life.  Better yet, open your phone or social media and scroll through some pictures of happy time with your children or your pets and remember that exact moment and how you felt. These little daydreams, also known as “creative visualization,” involve thinking of something that makes us feel happy. It’s an instant mood boost on hectic days when we’re feeling tense.

 

 

 

Try Acupressure: Pressure to meet a deadline can be stressful, but acupressure can help release all that tension. Acupressure’s a kind of touch therapy that works by balancing the circulation of fluids and energies in the body. Use the thumb and forefinger to massage the soft area between the thumb and index finger of the other hand. Dab on some lavender oil for extra relaxation.

 

 

 

Rub Your Feet Over a Golf Ball: Leave the clubs at home and just bring the ball. You can get an impromptu relaxing foot massage by rubbing your feet back and forth over a golf ball
